1943年開始在VOGUE展露光芒，與當時的總編Jessica Daves將時尚帶入新的紀元
1947年因作品Twelve of the Most Photographed Models of the Period認識了
當時的超模Lisa Fonssagrives，兩人陷入熱戀並於1950年成為夫妻，
直到1992年Lisa過逝，她一直都是Irving最重要的Muse。
